Trend: Leather Cuff Watch

January 17th, 2010 by nixxi

If you’re not in the mood for being girly and frilly, this trend might work for you. Now men have been sporting this trend for quite a while now and I must admit I really wanted one. But the thing is if you borrow a man’s version of this watch, it would look huge on your dainty wrist and thus, the trend is not carried over well. It was such great news when I found some that were made specifically for women. They’re big, that’s a given since they’re so bad-ass. But its not too big or heavy to wear. This is perfect for your everyday watch and contrary to what it might look like, I’ve tried this with a frilly dress and it looked perfect.

There are many versions to this one  but its usually an inch or an inch and a half in width. The watch face is usually silver or chrome. The strap itself is usually leather, hence the name. But I’ve seen one using canvas and to break convention, there are some not necessarily black or brown. Guess has one with interchangeable straps like white, pink, and blue. Its up to you to mix and match. But this trend is just perfect for normal days or rock concerts.

Trend: Charm Watch Bracelets

January 17th, 2010 by nixxi

This new trend is called the charm watch bracelet. Its ingeniously wonderful since it serves as a dual purpose accessory if you just want to look simple without loading too much jewelry on your arms. This is basically your charm bracelet with a watch charm attached. Some brands have come out with silver and gold ones so there’s plenty to choose from, depending on your mood and outfit. The bracelets often are chunky with the charms and everything so its perfect for that kick-ass look. One piece usually does the trick. It looks phenomenal with casual wear like jeans and a shirt.

The gold one is specially divine, we just love the gold tone and the charms are so cute. However, this last one from Anne Klein is also a keeper. It has faux diamonds and enamel charms. The watch face itself isnt that small so its easy to tell the time.

There have been plenty of collaborations between designers and manufacturers in recent years. More often than not, it does yield good results. Take for one, this diamond encrusted watch that resulted from a creative collaboration between  watch manufacturers A. Lange & Sohne of Germany and Paris-based jewelry store Dubail. Labeled as the Tourbograph Pour Le Merite, it features about 40 carats of white diamonds embedded all throughout the watch: 201 diamonds on the case itself and another 170 diamonds on the bracelet! The original design that this limited edition was based from was considered as one of the most complex and exclusive wristwatch ever made.

Well, at a staggering cost of $1.75 million, it might as well be.

August 25th, 2009 by kel15

Patek Phillipe’s Platinum World Time

A few days back here at BayAreaBags.com, we featured the top most expensive watch in the world. And now landing on #2 is again a creation of Patek Phillipe which is a SuperComplicated creation also happens to be super expensive which is worth $11M! The famed watchmaker finished the timepiece in 1932, a four year-long commission to create a watch for Henry Graves Jr., who had waged watch-war with James Ward Packard. The yellow-gold watch has two faces and 24 complications and was even bought at a Sotheby’s auction for a little more than $11M.
